Green & Black’s Organic Chocolate Bars
A Pioneer In Organic Dark Chocolate
CAPSULE REPORT: If you regularly buy organic chocolate, you’ve probably tried Green & Black’s. If you’re not “experienced” with G&B’s, you’re in luck: The line is widely available at retail as well as online. The U.K.-based company was a pioneer in the organic chocolate space, the world’s first organic, Fair Trade chocolate company. It has helped the cacao farmers of Belize stay on their farms and do what they love—grow cacao—instead of taking city jobs to support their families. Green & Black’s has proved that a company can be committed to environmental sustainability and Fair Trade prices, and still make a tidy profit. In fact, Green & Black’s organic chocolate is the U.K.’s fastest-growing confectionary brand, which prompted corporate giant Cadbury Schweppes to purchase Green & Black’s, in which it had a small stake, in May 2005. Planes collide at Iowa airport
Friday - July 31st, 2009 at 3:58 pm
One person was injured when two planes collided at the airport in Iowa Falls at about 2 p.m. Friday, the Federal Aviation Administration said. A Cessna 182 and a Mooney 20-C apparently collided as one was taking ff and the other was landing, said Elizabeth Isham Cory, FAA spokeswoman.
Three people were aboard the two planes, though it was not immediately clear which people were aboard which plane, Cory said. Information on the severity of the injuries was not available.
The Iowa State Patrol was in charge of the crash site, a Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said. The FAA will investigate the crash. The probes typically take up to a month, Cory said.
It's about time someone tried ending the 'golden' bonuses
Friday - July 31st, 2009 at 3:53 pm
WASHINGTON – The House voted Friday to slap restrictions on how Wall Street executives are paid after nine banks that took government bailout money rewarded thousands of their employees with bonuses topping $1 million each.
Bowing to populist anger and defying President Barack Obama’s suggestion that government rely on incentives instead of intervention to curb excessive salaries and bonuses, the House passed the bill on a 237-185 vote.
But the bill goes farther than Obama wanted by prohibiting pay incentives that encourage employees to take financial risks that could threaten the economy or viability of the institution.
Obama said giving shareholders a “say on pay” and diminishing management influence on pay packages would go far in curbing the lavish pay seen at some banks.
Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., who sponsored the bill, said the extra regulation is necessary to ensure bankers and traders aren’t rewarded only if they take big risks. Under the provision banning risky incentive-based pay, regulators would be given nine months to dictate precise guidelines.
If a bet goes wrong, “the company loses money and the economy may suffer, but the decision makers do not,” he said.
The vote came one day after New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo reported that the nation’s biggest banks awarded nearly 4,800 $1 million-dollar-plus bonuses in 2008 even as their profits dwindled and they accepted billions in government aid.

Keokuk building collapses KHQA update
Friday - July 31st, 2009 at 9:30 am
Area blocked off for safety reasons
Friday, July 31, 2009 at 9:46 a.m.
KEOKUK, Iowa- Just before 8:00 Friday morning a building collapsed at 6th and Main in downtown Keokuk.
The building is the site of the former Green Tambourine music store.
When police arrived on the scene all they could see was a cloud of dust from the collapsed building.
KHQA’s Melissa Shriver was on the scene and spoke with neighbors to the east of the building who said it sounded like an earthquake when it fell.
But neighbors to the west said they didn’t hear anything, they just saw a large plume of smoke.
No one was inside the building at the time.
Melissa also spoke to a walker who passed by just minutes before who said they felt lucky to be alive.
Crews are now busy with debris removal and the search any possible victims.
The cause is under investigation but Keokuk police do not suspect any sort of explosion.
Police are asking people to stay clear of the area around the collapse so that they can clear away the debris as quickly and safely as possible.
Melissa will have full coverage of the collapse tonight on KHQA at 5, 6 and 10 and on right here on our website at Connect Tri-States.com

KEOKUK, IA. (WGEM) – At this hour, crews are investigating a Friday morning building collapse in Keokuk.
Keokuk public works director Gerald Moughler tells WGEM News that a three-story building at 528 Main Street, commonly known as the Green Tamborine, collapsed at 7:50 Friday morning.
Moughler said that the building was vacant at the time of the collapse and that there are no reported injuries. He said at first glance he believes something structural in the front of the building may have gave way.
WGEM News will have more on this story as it develops throughout the day.

I know, I’m a pain in the ass right? Well, get over it!
Anyway, I’m consolidating blogger accounts into one, leaving www.mlmanley.com aka. mlmanley.blogspot.com, and www.mepoinc.com will now point to my original Mepoinc site way back in 2000 or so. This way it is much easier to put all up one one site.

Looks like another cool spring day, errr… summer day? outside
Friday - July 31st, 2009 at 8:25 am
With this weather we have been having lately, it really makes one wonder “Is it Spring or Summer” and a lot of talk and laughs at “Global Warming” or as they call it nowadays “climate change”.
I liked the world a whole hell of a lot better before “politically correct”, let’s cut out the bull shit and say it like we really mean it, and say it for what “it ” really is!
